Stroke Care Coordinator

Role Summary
Under the guidance of the Stroke Center Medical Director and Stroke Center Coordinator, this role is responsible for executing inpatient stroke-related performance enhancement initiatives and processes grounded in evidence-based practices.
Responds promptly to all stroke activation notifications during operational hours to aid in the identification and management of patients experiencing acute strokes.
Contributes to the education and training of nursing professionals and other staff in clinical requirements and educational initiatives pertinent to the stroke center.
Ensures adherence to compliance standards set by accrediting organizations. Engages in daily patient rounds to facilitate optimal care for stroke patients.
QualificationsEducation
Required:
Completion of an accredited nursing program.
Preferred:
Bachelor's Degree in Nursing.
Experience
Preferred: A minimum of 5 years of experience in neurological nursing.
Skills
Exhibits strong leadership capabilities.
Possesses excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to perform effectively under pressure.
Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
Capable of working independently with minimal oversight.
Demonstrates a solid understanding of neuroanatomy and neurophysiology.
Licensure/Certification/Registration
Required:
Active RN License in the state of Missouri, NIHSS certification (to be obtained within 90 days of hire), and Alteplase t-PA credentialing (to be obtained within 90 days of hire).
Required:
BLS certification must be achieved within 90 days.
Required:
ACLS certification must be obtained within one year of hire.
Preferred:
ABNN certification as a neuroscience and/or stroke registered nurse (SCRN).
