About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Submarine Combat Systems Analyst to join our team at the Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Laboratory (APL). As a key member of our team, you will play a critical role in assessing the performance and influencing the capability development of the U.S. Navy's submarine-based combat systems.

Key Responsibilities
  • Apply operational and analytical problem-solving skills to the performance analyses of U.S. Navy submarine-based combat systems.
  • Collaborate with internal and external partners to assess combat systems at the operational, functional, technical, and system performance level.
  • Contribute to the development of next-generation analysis capabilities and explore creative applications in unconventional ways.
Requirements
  • Submarine Warfare qualified and extensive relevant experience in submarine sonar system operational employment and training, or a BS degree in Engineering.
  • Passionate about applying operational experience and analytical skills in an innovative and collaborative environment.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to develop relationships across organizational teams.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Proficient at multi-tasking, prioritizing assignments, communicating progress, and meeting deadlines.
  • Ability to obtain an Interim Secret security clearance by start date and ultimately obtain a TS/SCI level clearance.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Qualified as an US Navy Acoustic Intelligence Specialist (NEC ST-708B) or possess a MS degree in Engineering or equivalent.
  • 5+ years of experience leading a technical team.
  • Previous experience with evaluation of U.S. Navy combat systems performance.
  • Strong background or previous experience in acoustics, signal processing, or mathematics.
  • Active Top Secret level clearance.
