Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented CT Technologist to join our team at St. Peter's Health. As a CT Technologist, you will play a critical role in ensuring the highest quality patient care and safety.

Key Responsibilities
  • Verify patient identification and procedure requests or prescriptions
  • Correctly interpret doctors' scanning instructions
  • Assess patient risk for allergic reaction to contrast media prior to administration
  • Review lab values prior to contrast media administration
  • Explain effects and potential side effects of contrast media
  • Start IV and administer IV and Oral contrast
  • Monitor patient for reaction to contrast media
  • Determine the need for and select supplies, accessory equipment, shielding, and positioning/immobilization devices
  • Provide accurate explanations, give instructions, and address questions/concerns regarding exams and procedures
  • Educate patients about the risks and benefits of radiation
  • Position patients for anatomic areas of interest, respecting patient ability and comfort
  • Prepare and operate CT scan equipment
  • Perform QA on images and ensure proper transfer to PACS while electronically completing the exam in a timely manner
  • Select appropriate CT radiation exposure factors using the principles of ALARA and utilize lead protective devices appropriately
  • Control access to radiation exposure areas
  • Obtain and prepare supplies, medication, and equipment for sterile and specialized interventional procedures
Additional Responsibilities
  • Participate in CQI and QA yearly plans and activities
  • Assist in the development, implementation, changes, and updates of protocols
  • Communicate with other modalities, nursing, Emergency Department, scheduling, admitting, physicians, and transporters to ensure smooth patient care
  • Participate in department projects such as ACR accreditation, Quality/Performance-based initiatives, and promotion of the department to physicians, community, and patients
  • Assist in ordering and management of inventory
