Dietitian - ESEP/MP

The Indian Health Service is seeking a highly skilled Dietitian to join our team at the Chinle Comprehensive Health Care Facility. As a Dietitian, you will play a critical role in providing professional work of nutrition directed towards the maintenance and improvement of health in various settings.

• Plan, implement, and evaluate nutrition services, education, and prevention with special emphasis on individual and family-oriented education.
• Conduct nutritional assessments and use evidence-based tools to calculate nutrient requirements and diet restrictions or food and drug interactions.
• Provide health education/promotion interventions, including breastfeeding support to individuals and groups.
• Guide individuals/families in food selection, preparation, or menu planning based on nutritional needs and established guidelines.
• Record information in medical records and participate in routine record maintenance in compliance with the Privacy Act and organizational policies.

• Bachelor's or graduate/higher level degree in dietetics, food, nutrition, food service management, institution management, or related science.
• Professional registration as a Registered Dietitian (RD) or Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN).
• At least one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks: planning menu for patients on special diet plans, observing patient food intake, documenting findings, recording information in medical records, and working with food service staff.

This position is located in the Chinle Service Unit, Chinle Comprehensive Health Care Facility, Division of Public Health, Clinical Community Nutrition Services, Chinle, AZ. The selected individual is required to obtain and maintain Registered Dietitian privileges, including any licensure requirements.

This position has promotion potential to the GS-09 grade level. Promotion to the next grade level is at management's discretion and is based on your demonstrated ability to perform the higher level duties, the continuing need for the higher level duties, and "Regulatory/Administrative" approval.
