Position Location: This role is based at the Lukae Hwnax (Fish House).

Ideal Candidate: We are looking for a seasoned mechanic who can troubleshoot, diagnose, repair, and maintain CVTC equipment, including heavy-duty trucks, material spreaders, military vehicles, excavators, skidders, bulldozers, graders, dump trucks, snowplows, and more. This position also involves driving and operating CVTC vehicles and equipment for snow removal, transporting goods and individuals, and other operational tasks.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain detailed records of work performed.
  • Conduct all tasks safely, adhering to industrial standards and traffic regulations, while utilizing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Minimum of 1 year of mechanical experience, with 1 to 2 years of operating, driving, or snow removal experience.
  • Strong interpersonal, customer service, and leadership skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse groups.
  • Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and organizational skills.
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Capability to perform well under pressure in a dynamic environment.

Required Certifications: A valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL) is necessary, along with the ability to be insured under CVTC's vehicle insurance policy. A Mechanics Certification is also required.

Drug Testing and Physical Examination: This position mandates successful completion of pre-employment and random DOT drug screenings, as well as an annual DOT medical examination.

Hiring Preferences: In accordance with applicable laws, preference for employment will be given to Alaska Native and American Indian individuals. CVTC also prioritizes family and local hiring preferences.
