Position Summary:
Certified Anesthesia Technician, Cer.A.T. – VUMC - $5k Signing Bonus
Your Role:
As a Certified Anesthesia Technician, you will be responsible for operating the institutional Point of Care Testing monitors, managing the cell salvaging systems, and utilizing the Rapid Infusion Systems during critical procedures such as trauma and liver transplants, often with minimal supervision.

Department Insight:
The Vanderbilt Department of Anesthesiology employs a collaborative anesthesia care team model, which includes anesthesiologists, residents, certified registered nurse anesthetists (CRNAs), student registered nurse anesthetists (SRNAs), and anesthesia technicians. Our department provides anesthesia services for a wide range of surgical procedures, encompassing cardiac, pediatric, vascular, trauma, neurosurgery, plastic surgery, radiologic, and specialized interventions.
Sign-On Bonus Eligibility: The sign-on bonus is not available to current or former VUMC staff who have worked within the last 12 months.
Key Responsibilities:
- Exhibit proficiency in the operation and utilization of point of care instruments and documentation.
- Identify challenging airways and proactively supply necessary equipment and materials.
- Prepare and manage the Rapid Infusion System for the delivery of blood products during surgical and trauma procedures.
- Demonstrate expertise in the operation of cell salvage equipment.
- Possess a solid understanding of pharmacology, anatomy, and physiology as it pertains to anesthesia care.
- Engage in multidisciplinary support services, which may include liver transplant services, pain management, and autotransfusion services.
- Additional responsibilities may be assigned as needed.
Technical Skills:
- Anesthesia Technical Support (Novice): Demonstrates fundamental proficiency in anesthesia technical support under supervision.
- Procedural Knowledge (Novice): Shows basic proficiency in procedural knowledge with guidance.
- Equipment Maintenance (Novice): Capable of maintaining equipment and ensuring adequate inventory.
- Medical Terminology & Documentation (Novice): Familiar with medical terminology and documentation practices.

- Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience
- Active certification as a Certified Anesthesia Technician
