Job Title: CAPE Peer Educator

Join Oregon State University's Center for Advocacy, Prevention & Education (CAPE) team as a CAPE Peer Educator. This part-time position is ideal for students passionate about preventing and advocating against all forms of gender-based violence.

Job Summary:

The CAPE Peer Education Program centers student voice and leadership in gender-based violence prevention and sexual health promotion efforts at Oregon State University. As a CAPE Peer Educator, you will work collaboratively to develop peer-led educational initiatives, workshops, outreach events, and activities centered on violence prevention and sexual health.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design, implement, and evaluate peer-led primary prevention programming.
  • Facilitate educational workshops on gender-based violence prevention, bystander intervention, consent, sexual health, healthy relationships, healthy sexuality, and survivor support.
  • Plan and host events with campus and community partners.
  • Assist in updating gender-based violence prevention and education curricula and presentation materials.
  • Work with CAPE staff and the Student Health Services marketing team to create social media and marketing materials and messaging related to peer education programming.
  • Conduct outreach to maintain existing partnerships and create new partnerships with both on- and off-campus organizations.
  • Support the Prevention & Education Team, the CAPE Team, and the Student Health Services Team.
Requirements:
  • Current OSU student.
  • Demonstrated strong communication and organizational skills.
  • Passionate about preventing and advocating against all forms of gender-based violence.
  • Ability to maintain composure in the face of opposing viewpoints.
  • Demonstrated interest in gender-based violence prevention education, peer education, consent education, healthy sexuality education, and bystander intervention education.
  • Comfort presenting sensitive material to groups in a variety of settings.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
  • Willingness and availability to work afternoons and evenings on a regular basis and weekends occasionally.
  • Commitment to inclusivity, diversity, and intersectionality.
  • Ability to attend CAPE Peer Educator training in-person and complete NASPA Certified Peer Educator (CPE) Training online.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience leading presentations and facilitating discussions with peers.
  • Experience in gender-based violence prevention and education.
  • Comfort discussing topics related to gender-based violence prevention, including but not limited to: consent, healthy sexuality, boundaries, power dynamics, social norms, gender-based violence, and bystander intervention.
  • Experience delivering workshops and programs to student groups in a variety of contexts.
  • Experience with assessment and program evaluation.
  • Experience as a peer educator.
  • Experience with training and curriculum development.
  • Experience tabling at campus and community events.
  • Experience working directly with student populations.
Working Conditions / Work Schedule:

This is a part-time position with a maximum of 24 hours per week. The position is compensated at $15.90 per hour, with scheduled raises after each year served in the position.
