Nature of Work
This role encompasses a range of cleaning, janitorial, and general upkeep tasks at the Recreation Center to ensure a well-maintained, hygienic, and secure environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Execute general custodial tasks, building upkeep, and minor repairs of equipment.
- Sweep, mop, and wax floors, corridors, and stairways; sanitize restrooms, meeting rooms, and offices; clean drinking fountains; dispose of waste; dust furniture; vacuum and shampoo carpets.
- Wash windows, polish furniture, and manage waste disposal on the premises.
- Oversee cleanliness during events and perform custodial duties as necessary.
- Restock restroom supplies, monitor inventory, and assist in ordering supplies.
- Operate various equipment and tools for custodial tasks including scrubbers, buffers, and vacuums.
- Conduct minor repairs on various items including window replacements, lock repairs, painting, and changing light bulbs.
- Maintain outdoor areas including snow removal and sidewalk cleaning.
- Ensure that essential equipment such as pumps and ventilation systems are operational.
Facility Maintenance:
- Maintain swimming pool areas by cleaning and sanitizing the pool deck, vacuuming, and inspecting safety equipment.
- Conduct daily maintenance on ice surfaces, ensuring compliance with standards.
Event Preparation:
- Set up facilities for scheduled events, including arranging furniture and equipment.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent and two years of full-time experience in janitorial or building maintenance roles.
Licenses and Certifications:
- Valid driver's license.
- Certification as an Ice Technician or completion of related courses within three years of hire.
