Job Summary:

The Field Institute seeks a seasoned Nutrition Services Supervisor to oversee and direct the Nutrition Services department. As a key member of our team, you will ensure compliance with Federal and State laws and regulations, manage programs to meet student needs, establish quality assurance procedures, supervise staff, maintain financial records, and evaluate food product quality.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain adherence to relevant laws and regulations.
  • Organize and direct the Nutrition Services program to meet student requirements.
  • Establish high-quality nutrition service standards.
  • Select, schedule, supervise, and evaluate Nutrition Service personnel.
  • Plan, monitor, and maintain the department budget.
  • Prepare and maintain records and reports for accountability and transparency.
  • Evaluate food product quality through testing.
  • Prepare and submit reports necessary to maintain funding.
  • Develop specifications for purchasing equipment, supplies, and food products.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

You will receive administrative direction from the Nutrition Services Manager and supervise all employees within the Nutrition Services Department.

Requirements:

  • Nutritional and operational requirements of state regulations.
  • Principles of employee supervision, discipline, and evaluation.
  • Applicable sections of the Education Code and other applicable laws.
  • Procedures for purchasing food, supplies, and equipment.
  • Health, safety, and sanitation regulations pertaining to food establishments.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Computer proficiency in word processing, spreadsheet, and business accounting software.
  • Interpersonal skills, including use of tact, diplomacy, patience, and courtesy.
  • Correct English usage, including grammar, spelling, punctuation, and vocabulary.

Education and Experience:

  • Three (3) years of increasingly responsible experience in a nutrition services program.
  • Associate's degree or equivalent educational experience with academic major in specific areas, and at least 1 year of relevant food service experience; OR High school diploma (or GED) and 3 years of relevant food service experience.

Licenses Required:

  • Valid California Driver License.
  • Valid Serve Safe Certificate.

Travel Requirements:

This role requires up to 50% travel time.

Estimated Salary Range: $52,000 - $72,000 per year
