Recreation Therapist (NY HELPS)

Role Overview:
The Recreation Therapist is tasked with the design, implementation, and oversight of recreational programs. Responsibilities encompass facilitating individualized activities, fostering community engagement, organizing recreational resources, and maintaining ongoing communication with house recreation representatives.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist in the development of personalized recreation schedules
  • Conduct in-home group activities for individuals not participating in day programs
  • Coordinate community engagement and in-home group events
  • Support larger community inclusive initiatives
  • Aid in the preparation of monthly activity and community event documentation
  • Engage in Special Olympics training and events
Qualifications:
Applicants must possess a bachelor's degree in Therapeutic Recreation, Recreation, Physical Education, or Adaptive Physical Education, along with pertinent experience or certifications in therapeutic recreation.
