Pharmacist

Under the direction of the Director of Pharmacy, the pharmacist is responsible for ensuring the safe and effective use of pharmaceuticals throughout the hospital. This includes interpreting medication orders, obtaining, preparing, and dispensing medications, as well as providing drug information to staff, providers, and the community.
Responsibilities:- Identify and resolve actual or potential medication-related problems.
- Take ownership of pharmacy-related issues and follow them to completion.
- Provide accurate drug information to staff, providers, and the community.
- Assist physicians and residents in developing optimal drug therapies for each patient, including pharmacokinetic dosing and monitoring services.
- Establish a pharmacy practice specialty or area of expertise and act as a resource for this specialty, providing education, monitoring, and other support to improve the quality of the department.
- Document and monitor all interventions and their outcomes.
- Perform medication order entry in a manner consistent with current department policies and procedures.
- Coordinate the daily distribution process of the pharmacy.
- Represent the pharmacy in hospital-wide committees and participate in pharmacy committees.
- Provide written and/or in-service education on a regular basis.
- Perform other projects or duties as required or assigned.

The employee is occasionally exposed to airborne contaminants, airborne pathogens, chemotherapeutic agents, non-weather-related heat or cold, slippery surfaces, and toxic or caustic chemicals.
The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
