Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic After School Program Assistant Teacher to join our team at the YMCA of Greater Grand Rapids. As a key member of our program, you will play a vital role in providing a safe, fun, and engaging environment for children to thrive.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in developing and leading daily lesson plans to promote learning and development in children
  • Prepare materials and resources for daily activities to ensure a smooth and enjoyable experience for participants
  • Maintain accurate records of attendance, arrival, and departure times to ensure accountability and transparency
  • Communicate with parents and guardians through weekly lesson plans and daily updates to keep them informed of their child's activities
  • Supervise children at all times to ensure their safety and well-being
  • Collaborate with Site Supervisor to plan and implement parent-teacher conferences as needed
  • Manage the quality and quantity of supplies, equipment, and materials in the classroom to ensure a conducive learning environment

Requirements:

  • 6-12 months of experience in youth development or a related field
  • Ability to interact with people of diverse backgrounds, ages, and lifestyles
  • Desire to work with school-age children and support their growth and development
