Overview

The primary function of this role is to assist in the efficient loading and unloading of various goods, ensuring smooth operations within the department.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Support drivers in the loading and unloading of containers.
  2. Prepare both soft and hard goods containers for transport.
  3. Handle the loading and unloading of trucks and trailers, including raw donations and waste materials.
    1. Ensure proper segregation of soft goods, hard goods, and waste.
  4. Verify that all items are accurately labeled (donations, commodities, waste, etc.).
  5. Sort recyclable materials into designated bins (metal, plastic, cardboard, etc.).
    1. Construct and organize empty containers for commodities, ensuring that heavier items are properly supported.
  6. Operate various equipment (e.g., auger, compactor, baler) in accordance with established safety protocols.
  7. Utilize material handling tools (e.g., pallet jack, hand truck) effectively.
  8. Maintain cleanliness and organization in the warehouse to promote a safe working environment.
  9. Ability to lift and carry a minimum of 25 lbs.

Additional Responsibilities

  1. Perform other tasks and special projects as assigned.

Supervisory Role

  • This position does not involve supervisory duties.

Qualifications

To excel in this role, candidates must demonstrate the ability to perform essential duties effectively. The following qualifications are required:

  • Previous experience in a warehouse setting.
  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED) is mandatory.
  • Ability to work with moderate supervision.
  • Bilingual in Spanish and English is preferred.
  • Strong safety awareness.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and a courteous demeanor.
  • Ability to consistently follow written and verbal instructions.
  • Flexibility in work shifts and willingness to work overtime as necessary.

  • Must be free from substance abuse.

Certifications

  • Forklift certification is required.

Language Skills

  • Ability to read and understand simple instructions and correspondence. Capable of writing basic correspondence and effectively communicating in small group settings.

Mathematical Skills

  • Proficient in basic arithmetic operations and able to interpret simple graphs.

Reasoning Skills

  • Ability to apply common sense to follow instructions and solve problems in standardized situations.

Computer Skills

  • Not applicable.

Training Requirements

  • Completion of New Hire Orientation.
  • Participation in Harassment Prevention training (non-management).
  • Safety training is mandatory.
