Position Overview
As a dedicated Seasonal Aquatic Safety Officer, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the safety and enjoyment of all patrons at our aquatic facilities. This position is essential for promoting the health and wellness of our community members of diverse ages and backgrounds. Our facilities offer a variety of programs including swimming lessons, competitive swimming, scuba diving, kayaking, water therapy, and leisure swimming activities for families and camps.

Key Responsibilities
  • Monitor and enforce safety regulations and facility rules.
  • Ensure all equipment is maintained in a safe, clean, and operational condition.
  • Administer first aid and emergency response with composure and sound judgment.
  • Act swiftly in emergency situations, adhering to established rescue protocols.
  • Maintain vigilant supervision of the aquatic environment to prevent accidents and respond to emergencies.
  • Perform opening and closing tasks for the facility and engage in routine cleaning duties.
  • Address customer inquiries and concerns with professionalism and positivity.
  • Collaborate effectively as part of a team.
  • Complete additional tasks as assigned.

The mission of the Department of Recreation, Parks and Cultural Activities is to enhance the City of Alexandria by providing meaningful experiences through public spaces, cultural initiatives, and engaging programming. Qualifications
Applicants must possess current CPR/AED and First Aid certifications from the American Red Cross or a recognized equivalent. Lifeguard certification from the American Red Cross or a similar organization is also required.
