Role Description:

We are seeking a skilled Middle School Science teacher to join our team at BRICK Gateway Academy Charter School in Newark, New Jersey. The ideal candidate will have a passion for working with underserved black and brown students and families, a collaborative mindset, and a solutions-oriented approach to teaching.

Responsibilities:

The successful candidate will be responsible for creating a positive, safe, and collaborative classroom environment for students. They will execute instructional practices as outlined, making accommodations, modifications, and acceleration as needed for student learning and success. Additionally, they will participate in regular meetings with their coach to support their development, collaborate with peers to share best practices, and utilize data to inform instruction.

Essential Functions:

- Demonstrate cultural competence and knowledge of best practices to support students from diverse backgrounds
- Create and maintain a positive, safe, and collaborative classroom environment for students
- Execute instructional practices as outlined with accommodations, modifications, and acceleration as needed for student learning and success
- Attend and actively participate in all required meetings to ensure strong communication and professional development

Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will have an unwavering commitment to the academic success and personal development of our students. They will possess strong interpersonal and communication skills, be proficient in working with computers, and have prior experience working with children. A valid teaching license/certification or an active pathway to acquire one is required, along with authorization to work in the United States.
