Job Title: Lead Adjunctive Therapist

Join our team as a Lead Adjunctive Therapist and play a vital role in providing therapeutic activities to reduce symptoms of mental illness for adult and adolescent patients.

About the Role:

The primary responsibility of this position is to plan and implement therapeutic activities based on Leisure Therapy Assessment. This may include arts and crafts, outdoor activities, music, art, dance, drama, sports, and movement. As a member of the interdisciplinary treatment team, you will provide services to adult, adolescent, or child patients under the care of Santa Rosa Behavioral Healthcare Hospital.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct group and individual sessions for patients, within the scope of practice, using mediums such as art therapy, movement therapy, occupational rehabilitation, exercise, games, or leisure activities.
  • In collaboration with the interdisciplinary treatment team, develop and implement activity therapy treatment plans.
  • Demonstrate sound application of activity therapy theory and methodology.
  • Provide individual activity therapy as ordered by the patient's physician.
  • Evaluate patient progress and document results in medical records and department records.
  • Contribute effectively to discharge planning.
  • Perform routine and assigned clinical and administrative tasks.
  • Exhibit a commitment to quality and process improvement.
  • Uphold the Organization's ethics and customer service standards.
  • Attend Treatment Team Meetings.
  • Oversee the Activity Staff and lead the Activity Department.
  • Complete Activity staff performance evaluations and provide performance management and supervision to all assigned staff.
  • Complete Recreation Therapy Assessment/Daily Leisure Assessment within 72 hours of admission.
Requirements:

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Recreation Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Music Therapy, or Art Therapy.
  • Current CTRS, OTR, or ATR certification/registration.
  • Three years of experience in a healthcare field with an emphasis in Occupational and/or Recreational therapy.
  • Current CPR certification (or within initial 30 days of employment).
  • Current CPI certification (or within initial 30 days of employment).
  • Knowledge of psychiatric and addictive disorders.
  • Demonstrated group process, teaching, or training skills.
  • Experience in a psychiatric care environment preferred.
Skills and Abilities:
  • Maintains confidentiality of patients at all times.
  • Sensitivity to and willingness to interact with persons of various social, cultural, economic, and educational backgrounds.
  • Proficiency with software and/or equipment (Microsoft Office applications including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize projects, work relatively independently, manage multiple tasks, and meet deadlines.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Good judgment, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Demonstrated commitment to working collaboratively as well as possessing the skills to lead, influence, and motivate others.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, expanding organization.
Physical Requirements:
  • While performing the duties of this job, this position is frequently required to do the following:
  • Use standard office equipment and access, input, and retrieve information from a computer.
  • Use computer keyboard with manual and finger dexterity and wrist-finger speed sufficient to perform repetitive actions efficiently for extended periods of time.
  • Communicate effectively in person or via telephone in a manner which can be understood by those with whom the person is speaking, including a diverse population.
  • Give and follow verbal and written instructions with attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Perform complex mental functions and basic arithmetic functions; interpret complex laws, regulations, and policies; collect, interpret, and/or analyze complex data and information.
  • Vision: see details of objects at close range.
  • Coordinate multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Reach forward, up, down, and to the side.
  • Sit or stand for minimum periods of one hour at a time and come and go from the work area repeatedly throughout the day.
