Maintenance Technician

City Cruises is seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented General Maintenance professional to join our Marine operations team in Chicago, IL.
About You:We are looking for an adaptable and dynamic individual who embodies our RESPECT Service System. This person will be responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and safety of our vessels, as well as performing routine maintenance tasks to ensure the smooth operation of our marine equipment.

As a General Maintenance professional, you will have the chance to work on a variety of tasks, including daily engine checks, routine maintenance of onboard equipment, and troubleshooting as needed.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:- Perform daily engine checks on all vessels
- Routine maintenance of all onboard equipment
- Repair of any defective equipment
- Assist vendors to facilitate repairs
- Implementation of preventative maintenance programs
- Mechanical aptitude, including diesel engines, fabrication, and tool usage
- Plumbing, including fuel systems and water systems
- Electrical, including 12/24 volt, 110/208 volt, and 480 volt systems
- Hydraulic systems, including steering systems
- Kitchen equipment, including cooking equipment, dishwashing equipment, and hot and cold holding equipment
- Provide exceptional hospitality to guests and coworkers as prescribed in Our Service System (OSS)
- Follow safety procedures to ensure the protection of passengers and vessel
- Participate in routine safety drills to prepare for major incidents
- Handle lines to moor vessels to pier
- Stand watch in ships' bows, sterns, or bridge wings to look for obstructions in a ship's path or to locate navigational aids
- Assist Captain and supervisory personnel in maintaining vessel equipment and systems
- Maintain the cleanliness and safety of all common areas
- Sweep, mop, and wash down decks and exterior to remove dirt and debris
- Load or unload materials from vessels; gather and remove trash from vessel
- Service, clean, and supply restrooms
- Be prepared to begin work at scheduled time
- Maintain uniform and personal grooming in compliance with appearance standards
- Other duties as assigned by the Captain or First Mate on duty
- High School Diploma (or GED or High School Equivalence Certificate) preferred
- Must be at least eighteen (18) years of age
- Pre-employment and on-going random drug testing is required for all marine personnel
- Must be able to effectively understand and convey written and verbal information to guests and coworkers
- Must possess a service orientation - actively looking for ways to help others
- Energetic and enthusiastic personality essential
- Will work for extended periods of time without sitting
- Must be able to lift up to fifty (50) pounds
- Must be able to throw mooring lines from ship to pier
- Must have normal color vision to accurately interpret navigational lights and color-sensitive system and safety displays
- May be required to apply for a Transportation Workers ID Card
- Will be required to be available for work on all major holidays
