Job Title: Utility Worker

Williams College is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Utility Worker to join our team. This is a 30-hour, 10-month academic year position located in Whitman's.

Job Summary:

The Utility Worker will work under the supervision of the Unit Manager and 1st Cook to clean and sanitize dishware, utensils, and cooking equipment. Daily duties will include restocking service ware during dining meal periods, sanitizing kitchen and dining room areas, providing custodial duties, and assisting with small event set-ups for meetings and breaks.

Responsibilities:
  • Restock service ware during dining meal periods
  • Sanitize kitchen and dining room areas
  • Provide custodial duties
  • Assist with small event set-ups for meetings and breaks
  • Assist with receiving, organizing, and stocking incoming goods
  • Sanitize the dish machine, kitchen areas, serving lines, dish storage areas, and mop rooms
  • Maintain clean and orderly recycling areas
  • Dispose of food waste and recyclable materials
  • Occasionally assist with food preparation, including washing, peeling, and cutting items to prepare for cooking and serving
Requirements:
  • Must be able to work independently
  • The job requires prolonged periods of standing and moving about the space, lifting of material up to 40 lbs, and bending to complete duties as assigned
  • Must possess strong customer service skills when working with a diverse population of students, faculty, and staff
  • Knowledge and ability to serve guests with the highest level of professional service is required
  • Prior food service experience is preferred
