Job Summary:

The Supplier Quality Engineer will play a crucial role in ensuring the quality of supplied parts and manufacturing processes at AISIN North Carolina Corporation. This position will be responsible for investigating quality problems, providing statistical information, and promoting quality improvement activities.

The successful candidate will travel to visit domestic and international direct material suppliers a minimum of 20% of each year.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Quality Control: Contain and control issues relating to supplied parts quality on the manufacturing floor.
  • Supplier Management: Visit direct material suppliers to assist in problem-solving activities, focusing on understanding true root cause, reoccurrence prevention, and clear/direct reporting on findings and improvement activities.
  • Compliance and Audits: Perform compliance and system effectiveness audits at suppliers to ensure adherence to company policies, procedures, and customer requirements.
  • Data Analysis: Organize and present data to management for decision-making purposes.
  • Reporting: Prepare reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing data, making recommendations.
  • Teamwork: Work in a team environment centered on structured problem-solving processes.
  • Problem-Solving: Identify and resolve problems, make process improvements, and respond to internal and external customer inquiries regarding supplied parts quality issues.
  • Communication: Participate in technical discussions with suppliers, internal and external customers.
  • Training and Development: Educate associates and supplier members in both theory and application of quality tools such as statistics, inspection methods, problem-solving, process analysis, and improvement.
  • Process Monitoring: Audit production processes at early trial stages and monitor parts quality from initial trial through project mass production.
Accountabilities:
  1. Implement kaizens to improve quality metrics and promote the continuous improvement of the manufacturing process.
  2. Utilize quality tools to implement Corrective Actions to avoid the reoccurrence of quality issues.
  3. Work with Engineering and Manufacturing in implementing customer requirements, quality standards, process requirements, and measurable.
Requirements:
  1. Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field.
  2. 3 years of experience in a Quality Assurance or engineering role, with a focus on supplied parts quality and a minimum of 2 years in a fast-paced, high-volume manufacturing environment.
  3. Demonstrated ability to create and teach manufacturing processes, theories, and procedures.
  4. Knowledge and experience with parts measurement required.
  5. Process experience with IATF and ISO auditing preferred.
  6. Understanding of PFMEA, Statistical probability, and root cause analysis with a comfort level in reporting to senior leaders.
  7. Demonstrated problem-solving to resolution experience in an engineering role.
  8. Knowledge of manufacturing methods and procedures.
  9. Possess very strong communication skills with the ability to successfully connect with non-technical individuals.
  10. Excellent computer skills, working knowledge of Word, Excel, and PowerPoint; database management skills ideal.
