Key Responsibilities
  • Network Management: Ensure the smooth operation of our telecommunications network, including day-to-day management and fault management duties.
  • Trouble Shooting: Respond promptly to network troubles to meet our quality standards.
  • Network Systems: Ensure that Network Management Systems and Elements are available and functional to support Tier 1 NOC operations.

  • Technical Support: Provide technical assistance to on-site engineers, customer-facing teams, and customers.
  • Performance Analysis: Enable performance measurements, interpret data, diagnose, and resolve issues.
  • Capacity Planning: Assist in the design, build, testing, and coordination of customer circuits and new capacity activations.
  • Vendor Management: Create and manage vendor support tickets.
  • Escalation: Escalate service-affecting issues or hazardous conditions to management.
  • Reporting: Create network or customer-specific reports following service-affecting events.
Change Management
  • Planned Activities: Coordinate with engineering teams, cable station engineers, and customers to develop and implement acceptable plans for all and any planned activities on the network.
  • Network Checks: Perform checks on network status and condition prior to the start of medium and high-risk planned activities.
  • Execution Coordination: Coordinate on-site engineers for planned execution of traffic switching events and other potentially service-affecting or high-risk activities.
  • Upgrade Implementation: Assist engineering teams in the implementation and operational validation testing of upgrades and new systems, equipment, or capacity in the network.
Requirements
  • Experience: 4+ years of working experience in a Network Operations Center, subsea cable station, or telecommunications Point of Presence (POP) environment.
  • Analytical Skills: Strong analytical and fault-finding skills with the ability to prioritize network and customer troubles, making recommendations on how to restore service to customers and eliminate repeat problems.
  • Communication Skills: Good communication skills, including verbal and written communication and presentation skills in a technical environment.
  • SLA Understanding: Understanding of Service Level Agreements and objectives.
  • Documentation: Good understanding of the documentation of technical methods and procedures.
  • Reporting Skills: Excellent ability to capture and document in a user-friendly way event-driven reports and diagnosis for both customers and management.
  • Software Skills: Good knowledge of MS Office Application suite, in particular Excel and Word.
  • Cultural Competence: Ability to communicate with engineers and customers of different nationalities and cultural backgrounds where English may not be their first language.
Desirable Experience
  • Submarine Network Technologies: Technical understanding of Submarine Network and DWDM technologies, specifically.
  • Equipment Knowledge: Familiarity with various equipment and systems, including Alcatel, Infinera, Juniper, ADVA, Tyco, Xtera, Fujitsu, and Ciena.
  • Network Topology: Advanced knowledge of interaction between network management systems and particular equipment or sections of the network and how they interact with each other.
