Job Title: Director of Nursing

At the Good Samaritan Society, we are seeking a dedicated and experienced Director of Nursing to lead our nursing team in providing high-quality care to our residents.

Job Summary:

The Director of Nursing will be responsible for overseeing the nursing program in our long-term care facility, ensuring that our residents receive the best possible care. This includes optimizing the geriatric care process, improving the quality and efficiency of service, and advising medical staff, department heads, and administrators on nursing service and strategies.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Administer the nursing program to maintain standards of resident care
  • Facilitate the optimization of the geriatric care process
  • Responsible for the overall quality of care provided by the organization's nursing personnel
  • Advises medical staff, department heads, and administrators in matters related to nursing service and strategies
  • Interprets policies and objectives of nursing service to staff and community groups
  • Monitors the operations of the nursing staff and ensures compliance with regulations on organizational and governmental standards and practices
  • Schedules staff and conducts employee performance reviews
  • Provides nursing care to residents on an as needed basis
  • Assists in the development and implementation of marketing activities/programs inclusive of community activities, special events, and media activities

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in nursing required
  • Graduate from a nationally accredited nursing program preferred
  • Five years nursing experience required
  • Housing with Services, housing and urban development (HUD), and/or assisted living experience also helpful
  • Thorough knowledge of the nursing practice act and standards of nursing care, and a working knowledge of administrative and management techniques
  • Currently holds an unencumbered RN license with the State Board of Nursing where the practice of nursing is occurring
