Position Overview

We are seeking a skilled Systems Administrator with expertise in Unix/Linux/Mac environments to join our team at ALTA IT Services. The ideal candidate will hold an Interim Secret Clearance or higher and will be responsible for managing and optimizing Red Hat server operations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Administer and maintain services on Red Hat servers, including but not limited to Apache, Docker, Kubernetes, PostgreSQL, Postfix, Nessus, ACAS Security Center, Samba, Splunk, and Ansible Tower.
  • Diagnose and resolve system outages and issues to restore services to optimal performance swiftly.
  • Ensure compliance with all DoD 8500 series and NIST security standards for client services, including hardware and software.
  • Develop comprehensive test plans for evaluating hardware and software solutions prior to implementation.
  • Provide detailed written test plans for client approval before proceeding with implementation.
  • Deliver written testing results prior to the deployment of systems into production.
  • Oversee the testing and installation of patches, updates, and future software versions.
  • Maintain server logs on a centralized log server, such as Splunk, and ensure availability to the Information Systems Security Manager (ISSM) upon request.
  • Adhere to Cybersecurity Vulnerability Alerts and Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIG).
  • Facilitate the integration of RHEL and Mac desktops with Windows services.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree (BA or BS) with a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience is highly preferred.
  • Interim Secret Clearance is acceptable until full Secret clearance is obtained.
  • Proficient in managing Red Hat servers using enterprise tools such as Satellite, Puppet, Ansible, JAMF, and Centrify.
  • Experience with scripting in Bash and developing comprehensive integration solutions.
  • Proven track record in evaluating hardware and software for implementation.
  • Ability to make informed recommendations to enhance the future performance of enterprise services.
