Position Summary
The Utility Worker is accountable for the effective disposal of waste materials and recyclable paper products within the production facility. This role involves general labor tasks such as assembling various components, including foam and corrugated materials, which contribute to the overall packaging solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Cut, die cut, and assemble foam products based on approved samples or specifications.
- Safely operate standard warehouse machinery, including forklifts and pallet jacks.
- Utilize a die press for production tasks.
- Submit maintenance requests to supervisors for necessary repairs and proactively maintain equipment.
- Employ hot melt glue or heat-sealing tools to bond foam pieces.
- Manage inventories of bailing wire, wax, and scrap materials.
- Conduct quality control checks on personal work output.
- Assist with two-person feeds as required.
- Apply appropriate load tags and spot labels to corrugated materials.
- Engage in assembly, packing, stapling, gluing, sorting, and other manual labor tasks as needed.
- Additional duties may be assigned as necessary.
This position does not include supervisory responsibilities.
Qualifications
- Experience in manufacturing, particularly within the corrugated sector, is preferred.
- Ability to read a tape measure accurately and efficiently.
- Understanding of equipment design and operational capabilities.
- Ability to read and interpret production layouts and specifications.
- Accommodations may be made for individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions.
- Regularly required to stand, walk, sit, and use hands for handling materials.
- Frequent communication through talking and hearing.
- Occasional reaching with hands and arms.
- Must be able to lift and/or move up to 10 pounds regularly and up to 50 pounds occasionally.
- Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
- Regular exposure to moving mechanical parts.
- Exposure to wet and humid conditions.
- Potential exposure to high places, fumes, airborne particles, and vibrations.
- Noise levels in the work environment are typically loud.
No certifications or licenses are required.
