The University Museums at Iowa State University is looking for candidates for the position of Marketing Specialist II. This unique organization includes two art museums, a National Historic Landmark site, a home museum, a sculpture garden, and one of the largest public art collections on a university campus in the nation. The University Museums presents world-class exhibitions alongside educational programming, actively acquires art to enhance its collection of over 30,000 permanent objects, conserves and preserves its collections, conducts and publishes curatorial research, and promotes student engagement.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Leadership: Formulate and implement a comprehensive marketing strategy that boosts the visibility and reputation of the University Museums. Assess and evaluate its effectiveness to ensure alignment with our objectives.
  • Brand Management: Develop and maintain the museum's brand identity, ensuring consistency across all communications and alignment with the broader University brand.
  • Promotion & Outreach: Lead promotional initiatives for exhibitions, public programs, special events, and more. Engage with audiences both on campus and in the wider community.
  • Digital Presence: Enhance and manage our website and social media channels to keep our community informed and engaged.
  • Creative Production: Supervise the creation of promotional materials such as brochures, posters, and digital content. Develop media advertising strategies to ensure effective outreach.
  • Budget & Metrics: Establish and achieve measurable marketing objectives while managing a balanced budget. Track and report on marketing metrics to drive ongoing improvement.
  • Public Relations: Develop and execute a comprehensive communication strategy. Create public relations materials that align with our unified voice and manage media inquiries.
  • Event Support: Assist with both in-person and virtual programs and events.
  • Donor Engagement: Build relationships with donors and prepare proposals and grants to secure funding for marketing and communication initiatives.
