Job Responsibilities
Deliver comprehensive sexual and reproductive health services to a diverse clientele under the guidance of the Associate Medical Director. Responsibilities include:
- Conducting gynecological examinations and managing sexually transmitted infections (STIs).
- Providing pregnancy options counseling and contraceptive guidance.
- Administering gender-affirming hormone therapy and prenatal care.
- Evaluating and managing early pregnancy complications and hypertension.
- Offering smoking cessation support and follow-up consultations.
- Facilitating abortion care services, including medication abortion and patient counseling.
- Ensuring compliance with medical protocols and standards.
Essential Duties
- Perform medical screenings and physical examinations for reproductive health conditions.
- Refer patients with abnormal findings to appropriate medical personnel.
- Order and interpret laboratory tests.
- Develop follow-up plans for abnormal results and ensure proper referrals.
- Maintain productivity with an expected patient load of 3-4 patients per hour.
- Collaborate closely with medical and operational staff to ensure efficient clinic operations.
- Participate in training and community education initiatives.
- Document all findings and plans accurately in the electronic medical record.
- Stay informed about advancements in healthcare through ongoing education.
- Provide long-acting reversible contraception (LARC) services as needed.
- Engage in quality assurance activities to uphold healthcare standards.
- Foster a collaborative and professional environment among team members.
- Cover clinician absences at various sites as required.
- Serve as a clinical leader and mentor for new staff.
- Provide on-call support as needed.
Qualifications
To excel in this role, candidates should possess:
- A degree from an accredited nursing or physician assistant program with relevant state certifications.
- A current Delaware license as an advanced practice registered nurse or physician assistant with prescriptive authority.
- Experience in family planning is preferred but not mandatory.
- A professional demeanor and the ability to work effectively in team settings.
Physical Requirements
This position involves:
- Close vision, hearing, and clear communication.
- Physical activities such as walking, lifting up to 25 pounds, and various examination techniques.
Work Environment
Work is conducted in a diverse setting, requiring the ability to build relationships and work both independently and collaboratively. The role may involve exposure to biological materials and requires flexibility in scheduling.
