Key Responsibilities- Perform workplace examinations to ensure a safe working environment
- Inspect, repair, replace, install, adjust, and maintain electrical equipment, gauges, instruments, and environmental and process control equipment
- Work from blueprints and sketches as necessary
- Respond to emergency call-outs as needed
- Determine the best way to make repairs to minimize the interruption of AC & DC equipment
- Advises when immediate shutdown of equipment is necessary to minimize damage or when temporarily continuing operation will have no harmful effect
- Dismantle, clean, repair, replace, install, maintain, and assemble all electrical and instrument equipment
- Adjust equipment for proper operating characteristics
- Analyze all types of drawings and wiring diagrams to determine material replacement needs, and assembly specifications and methods
- Makes sketches required when prints are not available
- Locate the source of trouble in any type of electrical equipment or apparatus by tracing and testing circuits, cards, and inspecting tools and material requirements
- Dismantle, inspect, repair, replace, or adjust faulty parts, and wiring on electrical equipment, such as motors, generators, air compressors, relays and controls, switches, circuit breakers, transformers, hydraulic, magnetic, and pneumatic equipment, panel boards, batteries, and starters
- Rewire, insulate, and paint as needed
- Operate machine tools such as a drill press, pipe threading machine, power saw, etc.
- Erect scaffolds and perform rigging
- Work closely in support of the production department and work with other members of the maintenance department
- Perform preventive and predictive maintenance
- Effective execution of the overhaul outage plan
- Direct other hourly employees and contractors as needed
- Keep work area clean and orderly
- Adhere to Procurement Department standards to secure repair parts, supplies, and materials
- Train other employees as needed
- Attend and participate in department and team meetings
- Stay up-to-date with changes in instrument and electrical technology
- Power distribution experience or understanding
- Programmable logic control and digital drive experience
- 4 years of electrical/instrumentation maintenance experience or an associate's degree or equivalent in electrical maintenance
- Ability to read sketches and blueprints
- Able to communicate verbally and in writing
- Ability to learn new or existing tasks required of the position
- Perform all the essential job functions
- Aptitude for numerical reasoning
- Must have experience and proficiency in industrial electrical and instrument maintenance, including the application of electrical principles
- Must be able to become proficient in the application of electronic, pneumatic, and hydraulic principles
- Must be able to become proficient with a working knowledge of the National Electrical Code
- Must have experience and proficiency working with AC single phase and three phase systems (416OV, 48OV, and 11OV); and DC solid state drives, VFD drives, and motor generator sets
- Must be able to work overtime, all shifts, holidays, and weekends
