Job Summary

We are seeking a reliable and flexible Transportation Driver to join our team at Adams County, WI. As an On-Call Driver, you will provide direct transportation services to clients of the Health and Human Services Department, delivering meals to homebound individuals, providing transportation for the elderly, and related work as apparent or assigned.

Key Responsibilities
  • Complete daily inspection of vehicle(s) and schedule routine maintenance and repairs.
  • Complete daily transportation reports, indicating mileage, time, number of passengers, disabilities of passengers, etc.
  • Assist in transporting clients outside regular routes, to appointments, stores, recreational activities, etc.
  • Report any issues or problems encountered in transporting clients and complete incident reports as necessary.
  • Assist in returning clients from group homes, adult family homes, and inpatient hospital settings following placement, detention or commitment.
  • Follow pertinent traffic laws and County transportation and safety policies, including accident reporting.
  • Attend in-service training events regarding passenger safety, wheelchair lift operation, defensive driving, confrontation avoidance and de-escalation, individual behavioral intervention, etc.
  • Responsible for the strict maintenance of client confidentiality and making suggestions to improve the operations of the transportation program.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or GED and minimal experience in mentally and physically disabled personal care and support, vehicle maintenance, client and patient transportation, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Valid driver's license in the State of Wisconsin.
Working Conditions

This work requires the occasional exertion of up to 50 pounds of force and work regularly requires speaking or hearing and using hands to finger, handle or feel, frequently requires standing, walking and sitting and occasionally requires reaching with hands and arms, tasting or smelling, pushing or pulling, lifting and repetitive motions.
