Key Responsibilities
  • Pre-Procedure Preparation
    • Review patient medical history, doctor's orders, and previous imaging studies to ensure appropriate MRI procedure.
    • Explain MRI procedure to patient, addressing questions or concerns to reduce anxiety.
    • Ensure necessary documentation, including informed consent forms and patient information, is completed before procedure.
    • Verify patient identity and screening criteria to ensure safety.
    • Prepare and position MRI room by ensuring machine and equipment are ready for procedure.
  • Conducting MRI Scans
    • Operate MRI machine, adjusting settings to obtain high-quality images as prescribed by physician.
    • Position patients on MRI table, ensuring they are comfortable and aligned to capture correct images while adhering to safety standards.
    • Administer contrast agents as prescribed by physician to enhance image clarity.
    • Ensure patient remains still during scan to obtain clear, high-resolution images.
    • Monitor MRI process to confirm quality imaging, making adjustments to settings or positioning as necessary.
  • Patient Safety and Comfort
    • Ensure patient safety during MRI procedure, especially concerning strong magnetic fields.
    • Keep patients informed during scan, providing reassurance and instructions as needed to ensure comfort.
    • Monitor patient condition, including vital signs, during scan to detect potential issues or discomfort.
    • Ensure proper patient positioning to avoid injuries or discomfort during imaging process.
  • Post-Procedure Care
    • Assist patient off MRI table after procedure and ensure they are stable and comfortable.
    • Provide post-procedure instructions, including follow-up treatments, care for injection sites, and other aftercare instructions.
    • Ensure required post-scan imaging or additional scans are scheduled as necessary.
    • Address any immediate concerns or side effects the patient may experience.
  • Maintenance and Equipment Care
    • Ensure MRI machine is regularly calibrated and functioning correctly.
    • Clean and disinfect MRI suite and equipment between patients to adhere to infection control protocols.
    • Monitor equipment performance, identify malfunctions or issues, and alert staff for repairs or servicing.
  • Collaboration with Medical Team
    • Communicate effectively with physicians, radiologists, and other medical staff to ensure correct images are obtained and patient's needs are met.
    • Work with other healthcare professionals to review images, assess need for follow-up scans, and discuss patient conditions.
    • Collaborate with radiologists to ensure final images meet diagnostic standards and are transmitted accurately to physician for review.
  • Documentation and Record-Keeping
    • Document all relevant patient information and scan results in electronic health record (EHR).
    • Ensure imaging data is properly labeled and uploaded into system, and assist with reports or communications as needed.
    • Maintain logs of equipment usage, maintenance, and any issues encountered during procedures.
  • Radiation Safety and Protocols
    • Follow guidelines for handling contrast agents and equipment that could pose risk to patients.
    • Adhere to radiation safety standards for other imaging technologies used in department.
    • Follow established safety protocols, including magnetic field safety, to avoid accidents or injuries.
  • Professional Development and Training
    • Stay current with latest MRI technology, scanning techniques, and patient care practices.
    • Participate in continuing education programs and obtain necessary certifications to maintain licensure and improve professional skills.
    • Assist in training new MRI technologists or students on operation of MRI machines and best practices in patient care.
    Compensation Package

The compensation package includes a tax-free stipend amount to be determined. We estimate the salary for this role to be around $90,000 - $110,000 per year, based on 10 hour shifts and 40 hours per week, plus benefits and other perks. Please note that the actual salary will depend on your qualifications, experience, and location.
