Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver safe and effective age-appropriate patient care utilizing nursing interventions to help patients achieve and maintain optimal health.
  • Serve as the primary scrub technician, responsible for mentoring others in the scrub role.
  • Assist with technical duties during assigned surgical procedures and act as a resource in specific areas of expertise.
  • Ensure the availability and proper functioning of necessary instruments and supplies, demonstrating proficiency in operating specialized equipment.
  • Administer labeled medications with accurate dosages on the sterile field while adhering to patient safety protocols.
  • Engage in additional duties that support the surgical team, including following established patient care handoff protocols and collaborating with registered nurses.
  • Actively contribute to quality improvement initiatives.
  • Participate in ongoing learning and self-development, serving as a knowledgeable resource for the surgical service line.

  • Adhere to all institutional policies and standards.
  • Refer to departmental documentation for specific duties and responsibilities during orientation.
  • Comply with all regulations regarding the secure handling of Protected Health Information (PHI) for patients, including annual training and adherence to the Code of Conduct.
Qualifications

Educational Background

  • Completion of an accredited Surgical Technician program.

Skills and Competencies

  • Panel Review Required
  • Experience in Preceptor duties Required
  • Fulfillment of promotional criteria Required
  • Comprehensive knowledge of aseptic techniques, surgical instruments, sutures, and procedures Required
  • Ability to provide guidance on the technical aspects of surgical procedures relevant to the service line Required
  • Demonstrated leadership skills or prior leadership experience Required
  • Proficient in using a variety of technical equipment to meet patient care needs and prescribed therapies Required
  • Responsible for coordinating in-service training for new and existing equipment Required

Preferred Certifications

  • Certification as a Surgical Technologist is preferred.

Physical Requirements
