We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Vocational Instructor - Training and Development Specialist to join our team at The GEO Group, Inc.
About the Role:This is an academic programs position that focuses on creating a vocational technical and academic environment that provides inmates/detainees with opportunities to maximize their learning potential and achieve or enhance their ability to perform vocational tasks.
Responsibilities:- Provide instruction to inmates/detainees for various labor and/or technical skills through classroom instruction, demonstration, and practical exercises.
- Maintain records, including testing, daily offender work, attendance, and general record keeping.
- Assess educational needs of inmates, develop lesson plans to address those needs, including individualized assignments and training.
- Administer, score, and interpret examinations and proficiency indicators.
- Counsel students concerning their performance, behavior, and personal problems.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- A high school diploma/equivalency and five (5) years of relevant wage-earning work experience are required OR a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university and two (2) years of teaching experience are required.
- Possess or be eligible to apply for a State of Florida Educator's certificate. Non-certified applicants must obtain a State or Florida Educator's Certificate within twelve (12) months of hire.
The estimated salary for this role is around $65,000 - $85,000 per year, depending on location and experience.
