Overview

The Texas Department of Aging & Disability Services is seeking a Regulatory Compliance Specialist - Long-term Care Surveyor to join our team. This role plays a critical part in protecting individuals' health and safety by conducting on-site residential surveys, monitoring, and investigations of Home and Community-Based Services (HCS) Medicaid program providers.


Compensation

The estimated salary for this position is $60,888 per year, with excellent state benefits, including health insurance and retirement. Additionally, you will have the opportunity to regularly travel to different program providers within a region and across the state.


Job Description

As a Regulatory Compliance Specialist - Long-term Care Surveyor, you will:

  • Conduct on-site inspections, complaint and incident investigations, and comprehensive surveys to determine provider compliance with federal and state health and safety regulations.
  • Communicate clearly and accurately with others to provide, exchange, or verify information, answer inquiries, or resolve issues or complaints regarding services provided in the Home and Community-based Services and Texas Home Living Medicaid waiver programs.
  • Re-visit residential sites and provider locations to verify correction of previously cited regulatory violations.

Required Skills and Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Knowledge of program regulations and procedures, survey and investigation techniques, and principles.
  • Skill in operating personal computers and software.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with team members and others and to work independently.
  • Ability to communicate orally and in writing.

About the Role

This is a front-line field position that requires minimal work at an office. You will perform quality assurance reviews of documents prepared by others, such as publications, assessments, and reports. You may also be required to testify at hearings or in court proceedings to provide information regarding policy/procedures, history, findings, or activities.
