Job SummaryWe are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Laboratory Assistant to join our team. As a Laboratory Assistant, you will play a critical role in the pre-analytical processing of patient samples, working closely with Technicians, other Laboratory Assistants, and Supervisors to ensure the highest level of quality and accuracy.
Responsibilities- Determine the acceptability of veterinary specimens for testing according to established criteria.
- Receive and organize veterinary specimens.
- Prepare specimens for processing and analysis using aseptic techniques.
- Accessioning microbiology specimens into the laboratory information system.
- Identify problem specimens and specimens not suitable for analysis.
- Perform computer data entry and retrieval.
- Monitor and replenish testing bench supplies as necessary.
- Maintain a clean and organized laboratory space.
- Complete record logs and other administrative duties as requested.
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Laboratory experience in Microbiology (Bacteriology/Mycology/Parasitology) is preferred but not required.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Excellent interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills.
- Attention to detail.
- Ability to work productively and effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Detailed-oriented about data entry and excellent typing skills.
- Strong computer skills and ability to work with Microsoft Software.
- Ability to sit and stand for extended periods.
- Ability to lift 50 lbs.
