We are seeking a highly skilled Wind Technician II to join our team at ENGIE North America Inc. as a key member of our renewable energy operations team. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the optimal performance and reliability of our wind generation assets.
Key Responsibilities- Operate and maintain wind turbines and associated equipment to ensure maximum energy production and minimize downtime.
- Perform routine inspections and maintenance tasks to identify and address potential issues before they become major problems.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and implement maintenance strategies that optimize asset performance and reduce costs.
- Develop and maintain a thorough understanding of wind turbine systems, including electrical, mechanical, and control systems.
- Provide technical guidance and support to less experienced technicians and engineers.
- Participate in behavior-based safety programs and enforce safety procedures to ensure a safe working environment.
- Conduct orientations and meetings to promote a safe working environment and ensure compliance with ENGIE's safety policies.
- Manage spare parts inventory, coordinate contractor work, and maintain cleanliness on-site.
- Provide recommendations for operational and maintenance improvements and offer equipment operation training.
- Utilize Root Cause Failure Analysis techniques to address failures and improve asset performance.
- Work on computerized work order systems for purchase requisitions and receiving statuses.
- Support other wind assets during planned outages and emergencies, potentially requiring overnight stays.
- Participate in on-call rotation and reside within 50 miles of the site to respond promptly to outages and emergencies.
- Minimum two (2) years diploma in a technical program or equivalent experience.
- Minimum two (2) years of experience and knowledge of wind generation, power plant, or substation maintenance.
- Must have or be willing to obtain certification as substation technician within twelve (12) months of hire date.
- This is a field position requiring regular travel to client sites.
- This role requires daily attendance at a worksite.
- Must be available to travel domestically to other solar plants for emergencies and assist with outages.
- Must possess a valid U.S. driver's license/clean driving record to drive company vehicle on and around the plant.
- Must be willing and able to comply with ENGIE's policy with respect to COVID vaccination and testing.
- Must be willing and able to comply with all ENGIE ethics and safety policies.
