About the Role:
We are seeking a dedicated Lead Engineer to oversee our marine operations. This position requires a proactive individual who embodies the values of Alcatraz Cruises and demonstrates adaptability and dynamism in their work.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage the routine upkeep and sanitation of marine vessels and associated facilities.
- Track and follow up on various projects and tasks, ensuring timely completion.
- Provide guidance and support to engineering teams, facilitating daily operations and assignments.
- Assist in coordinating engineering projects, reporting on progress and challenges.
- Maintain accurate records of job statuses and engineering activities.
Essential Duties:
- Possess extensive hands-on experience in marine engineering and maintenance.
- Ensure compliance with USCG and all relevant safety regulations.
- Design and supervise the testing, installation, and repair of marine systems and equipment.
- Conduct studies to inform the design of marine engines and structures.
- Prepare detailed schematics and layouts for engineering projects.
- Evaluate the performance of marine equipment and analyze data for feasibility assessments.
- Collaborate with research teams to resolve design issues and enhance product development.
- Perform compliance tests on machinery and equipment.
- Coordinate with regulatory bodies to ensure cost-effective repairs and modifications.
- Oversee procurement of materials necessary for equipment repairs.
- Act as a liaison between vessel crews and operational teams to maintain schedules and safety standards.
- Document all engineering activities, including maintenance and repair records.
- Ensure vessels meet international safety and environmental standards.
- Prepare project plans, estimates, and specifications for construction and repairs.
- Supervise and train engineering staff for both routine and emergency procedures.
- Maintain equipment according to manufacturer specifications.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Represent the engineering department in meetings.
- Collaborate with vendors alongside the Port Mechanic.
- Support operational activities to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for guests.
Qualifications:
- HAZWOPER certification (40 hours).
- HAZMAT certification.
- Strong project management skills.
- Proven engineering experience.
- Customer service experience is advantageous.
- Basic computer proficiency, including familiarity with reporting software.
- Valid driver's license.
