Vaco Phoenix is seeking an experienced Senior Staff Accountant to join our team in Phoenix, AZ. This role requires a strong background in financial procedures, including month-end and year-end closings, accounts payable, general ledger entries, and bank reconciliations.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead Month-End Close Processes: Ensure preparation and submission of financial reports to support senior management teams.
  • Manage Financial Transactions: Process and record general ledger, banking, revenue, and billing, cash receipts, accounts payable, and fixed assets in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Partner with Internal Teams: Collaborate with team members to ensure quarterly work in progress close outs and fixed asset transfers are completed on time.
  • Reconcile and Analyze Accounts: Reconcile, review, and analyze balance sheet and income statement accounts for discrepancies.
  • Improve Accounting Processes: Identify opportunities to streamline accounting processes, improve efficiency through automation, standardization, and best practices.
  • Support External Auditors: Provide support to external auditors on requests related to fixed assets and work in progress.
  • Document Department Procedures: Assist in creating and maintaining current department procedure documentation.
Requirements:
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance preferred but not required.
  • Experience: 3-4 years' experience in a staff accountant role or 1-2 years as a Senior Accountant.
  • Skills: Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, and Outlook), experience working with ERP systems, and excellent written and oral communication skills.
