Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Volunteer Liaison to support our Refugee Tucson program. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining a healthy volunteer program, collaborating with program staff, and providing excellent customer service to volunteers and donors.

Key Responsibilities
  • Needs Assessment, Recruitment, and Placement
    • Collaborate with Refugee & Immigration team members to understand current volunteer and in-kind needs.
    • Recruit individual volunteers to support refugee programs in Tucson, with a focus on Refugee Youth Mentorship Program (RYMP), Refugee School Impact Grant (RSIG), Women's Empowerment Program (WEP), Reception & Placement (R&P), and Intensive Case Management (ICM).
    • Be apprised of all contractual goals related to volunteers in Refugee Tucson programs and work to meet or surpass volunteer goals in collaboration with the Community Integration Manager.
    • Identify pathways and cultivate partnerships for recruitment of individual refugee volunteers, in collaboration with the Outreach Coordinator.
    • Welcome and train volunteers in collaboration with program staff, maintaining excellent communication to monitor progress and perform regular check-ins.
    • Share volunteer highlights and discuss improvements needed with program staff.
  • Information Development & Tracking
    • Request, review, and electronically save onboarding documents for individual Tucson refugee volunteers.
    • Monitor hours reporting, review and/or enter volunteer hours and feedback by Tucson volunteers within Better Impact/RWC databases, and conduct follow-up as needed.
    • Utilize and track information within the donor database, Virtuous.
    • Ensure that tracking of any stated performance measures, outputs, and expected outcomes are added to databases for agency-wide and/or contractual reporting.
    • Support the communication of stories and advocacy efforts through the writing and sharing of stories and photos to build a case for community support and share with community engagement team members for newsletters, campaign asks, etc.
  • In-Kind Donation Support
    • Communicate with program staff to understand current Refugee Tucson in-kind needs and communicate with volunteers and partners to solicit these needs.
    • Provide administrative support in obtaining in-kind receipts for all donations for Refugee Tucson, providing excellent customer service with volunteers/donors running drives or dropping off donations.
    • Assist with sorting donations and oversee the distribution of items to program staff for clients, tracking notes regarding distribution in the client database.
    • Schedule furniture pick-ups with donors in collaboration with the Reception & Placement team.
    • Support seasonal campaigns through solicitation, sorting, and distribution.
  • Volunteer Appreciation
    • Plan and implement personalized appreciation efforts for Refugee Tucson volunteers.
    • Create opportunities for both educational development and social activities for Tucson refugee volunteers to participate in together.
    • Participate and plan annual Volunteer Appreciation events in collaboration with the community engagement team.
  • Team Collaboration
    • Participate in both Fund Development and Refugee & Immigration staff meetings and maintain knowledge of client services in Refugee & Immigration.
    • Regularly share volunteer highlights at program meetings, in collaboration with the community engagement staff.
    • Assist with Fund Development events such as donor giving days and the annual Building Foundations Luncheon.
    • Engage the refugee team in building a culture of philanthropy, publicizing spirit days, and offering periodic trainings and spotlights.
