Medical Scribe Float Position

We are seeking a highly skilled Medical Scribe to join our team at Beacon Health System. As a Medical Scribe, you will play a vital role in supporting our physicians by accurately documenting patient encounters and completing clerical tasks.
Key Responsibilities- Accompany physicians during patient encounters and document events and decision-making in a timely and accurate manner.
- Complete clerical activities necessary to assist with processing of physician orders for tests and medications.
- Perform routine laboratory and EKG tests as ordered and collect specimens for the lab.
- Administer and record medication and injections as ordered.
- Interpret physician's instructions to patients and provide instruction to patients.
- Check and maintain supply of stock to exam rooms.
- Clean and sterilize instruments and equipment.
- Schedule office or hospital procedures.
- Prepare procedure orders and accompany data to be sent to the hospital for inpatient/outpatient studies.
- Manage and adjust medication dosage under the direction of a physician and follow up on patient compliance.
- Manage patient refills and ensure that medications are dosed correctly, and patient is taking them according to provider instructions.
- Preload patient information into the EMR, including diagnostic testing, health maintenance, and past surgical history.
- Accompany physician into the patient examination room to transcribe a history and physical exam, and document accurately the physician's encounter with the patient and others present.
- List all proper diagnoses and symptoms as well as follow-up instructions and prescriptions as dictated by the physician.
- Transcribe patient orders, including laboratory tests, radiology tests, medications, etc.
- Document any procedures performed by the physician.
- Identify any quality measures that are needed for patient and advise the physician.
- Enter the CPT code and ICD-10 diagnosis code that is verbalized by the provider.
- Serve as the patient advocate by communicating the patient's needs and requests to the appropriate provider.
- High school diploma or equivalent is preferred.
- Medical Assistant: Graduate of an accredited associate degree Medical Assistant program and current certification through AAMA or similar organization is required.
- Previous medical office experience is desired.
Works in a physician office environment. May require lifting or positioning of patients. Flexible hours and work schedule required.
Physical DemandsRequires the physical ability and stamina to perform the essential functions of the position, including walking/standing for prolonged periods, pushing carts/wheelchairs, lifting at least 50 pounds, positioning/lifting patients of various sizes and weights, etc.
