Job Summary:
We are seeking a Trainee to join our Telecom program in Central Pennsylvania. As a Trainee, you will assist our line crews during all phases of construction activity, including installing and relocating aerial and underground cable, and performing other general tasks using company and/or rental equipment.
Responsibilities:
- Install and relocate aerial and underground cable, including fiber optic, transportation, distribution, and drop cable, ensuring it meets industry standards and is technically reliable.
- Assist with traffic control and perform broom/shovel work to assist the crew in underground utility construction.
- Assist crew members in trenching, digging, pulling, and removing material.
- Operate power equipment for demolition, concrete removal, grading, truck/dumpster loading, site clean-up, and other general tasks.
- Perform all duties according to prescribed safety procedures and use appropriate safety equipment.
Qualifications:
- 2+ years of experience or equivalent training as a lineman/trainee/apprentice, with knowledge to detect power space violations and safety issues.
- Ability to climb pole to cable height using pole climber gaffs.
- Current valid driver's license (preferably a CDL A) with a clean driving record.
- Ability to lift, reach, dig, and carry heavy objects, with frequent lifting up to 50 pounds and infrequent lifting of up to 100 pounds.
- Ability to perform heavy physical work and perform duties in a safe and efficient manner.
- Availability for overtime weekday and/or weekend and willingness to travel as required.
