Job Description

The Tyndale Company, a leading national supplier of arc-rated flame resistant (FR) clothing, is seeking a Category Manager to oversee vendor relations and ensure the best price, quality, and delivery for all goods and services.

This role will collaborate with internal departments and manage daily responsibilities to ensure quality standards are consistently met. The Category Manager will be responsible for:

  • Performing periodic analysis of goods and services to ensure best pricing, service, and delivery.
  • Providing pricing for bids and ensuring competitive sourcing procedures are followed.
  • Sourcing and managing products in assigned categories.
  • Identifying and implementing alternate cost-saving initiatives with assigned vendors.
  • Gathering and verifying test reports, documents, and labels for new products.
  • Resolving issues with suppliers and identifying root causes to avoid repeat situations.
  • Creating and implementing procedures for tracking monthly and yearly cost savings for each vendor.
  • Developing and implementing regular vendor monitoring interview schedules.
  • Coordinating buyer activities to ensure appropriate discounts are taken.
  • Collaborating with internal departments to identify vendor deficiencies and implement corrective actions.
  • Selecting and changing vendors based on performance and competitive bidding practices.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 5-7 years of purchasing experience required.
  • Highly motivated and results-driven individual.
  • Proactive with a sense of urgency.
  • Strong organizational and attention-to-detail skills.
  • Strong sourcing and negotiating skills.
  • Experience with vendor contract negotiations.
  • Proven vendor management track record.
