Job Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled Sr. Data Engineer to join our team and contribute to the development of cutting-edge data systems for the Fire TV Experience.

About the Role:

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and implement robust, scalable data systems
  • Develop expertise in Big Data engineering concepts, data architecture design, performance tuning, and data modeling
  • Work independently in an ambiguous and fast-paced environment, communicating effectively with both technical experts and non-experts

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Data System Design and Implementation: Collaborate with scientists, engineers, software developers, and business leaders to define data system requirements and provide solutions
  2. Data Engineering: Develop robust, scalable, and maintainable data systems with a combination of in-house tools and standard technologies (e.g., SQL, Python, Spark)
  3. Operational Best Practices: Build with operational best practices (e.g., dashboarding and monitoring/alarming to ensure data integrity)
  4. Data Modeling: Design and implement durable data models for FTV datasets
  5. Data Security: Protect data to ensure customer trust

Requirements:

  • 5+ years of data engineering experience
  • Experience with data modeling, warehousing, and building ETL pipelines
  • Experience with SQL
  • Experience in at least one modern scripting or programming language, such as Python, Java, Scala, or NodeJS
  • Experience mentoring team members on best practices
