### Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Occupational Health Specialist to join our team at Beacon Health System. As an Occupational Health Specialist, you will play a critical role in ensuring the health and safety of our associates.
### Key Responsibilities
* Conduct root cause analysis of associate injuries to identify and implement corrective actions
* Review and ensure that safety and proper ergonomics are in place
* Audit and investigate departments for any safety concerns and ensure that safety equipment is available for associates to use
* Assist with Employee Health functions, including providing coverage for and assisting Medical Assistants and the Occupational Health Coordinator as needed
* Perform new hire screens during high census
* Assist with Circle Wellness projects as requested
### Organizational Responsibilities
* Attend and participate in department meetings and be accountable for all information shared
* Complete mandatory education, annual competencies, and department-specific education within established timeframes
* Complete annual employee health requirements within established timeframes
* Maintain license/certification, registration in good standing throughout the fiscal year
* Direct patient care providers are required to maintain current BCLS (CPR) and other certifications as required by position/department
* Consistently utilize appropriate universal precautions, protective equipment, and ergonomic techniques to protect patient and self
* Adhere to regulatory agency requirements, survey process, and compliance
* Comply with established organization and department policies
* Be available to work overtime in addition to working additional or other shifts and schedules when required
### Education and Experience
* The knowledge, skills, and abilities as indicated below are normally acquired through the successful completion of an associate's degree or higher
* A current Indiana State LPN or Registered Nurse license is required
* Two to three years of progressively responsible experience in occupational health or public health is required
* Must have Workplace Ergonomics certification or obtain within 3 months of hire
### Knowledge & Skills
* Requires knowledge of, and competency in, the occupational healthcare field, which includes the assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of occupational-related healthcare issues
* Demonstrates the analytical and computer skills necessary to gather and interpret data needed to perform root cause analysis of associate injuries, knowledge of common safety hazards, and universal precautions to establish a safe working environment
* Demonstrates high-level interpersonal skills to establish and maintain effective working relationships with associates, medical staff, patients, family, and the public
* Requires ability to perform venipuncture and other clinical procedures as required by the department
* Must have good oral and written communication skills
* Knowledge of best practice related to workplace safety
### Working Conditions
* May need to vary days and hours scheduled in order to provide occupational health services as determined by the department's needs
### Physical Demands
* Requires the physical ability and stamina to perform the essential functions of the position, including walking/standing for prolonged periods, pushing carts/wheelchairs up to 50 pounds, positioning/lifting patients at a maximum of 35 pounds unassisted, and providing CPR
