Key Responsibilities:

The Facilities Maintenance Specialist plays a crucial role in ensuring the upkeep of NatureBridge's historic buildings and grounds within Fort Cronkhite, located in the Golden Gate National Recreation Area. This position is based on-site and cannot be performed remotely.

Your primary responsibilities will include:
  • Ensuring cleanliness and performing custodial tasks to meet departmental needs.
  • Conducting routine maintenance and repairs on facilities and landscapes.
  • Assisting in training new personnel on safety protocols and maintenance tasks.
  • Maintaining a clean, safe, and organized workshop and work environment.
  • Advising the Facilities Director on maintenance priorities and solutions.
  • Being available for overtime or weekend work as needed.
  • Fostering a collaborative and supportive team atmosphere.
  • Participating in weekly meetings and safety training sessions.
  • Recognizing and preserving the historic significance of the campus during maintenance activities.
  • Completing additional tasks as assigned by the supervisor.
Compensation and Benefits:
  • Starting wage of $20.00 per hour

Qualifications:

Ideal Candidate:

We seek individuals who possess:
  • Experience in building and grounds maintenance.
  • Skills in basic carpentry, plumbing, electrical work, mechanical tasks, masonry, and painting.
  • The ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues, National Park Service staff, program participants, and visitors.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities.
  • A flexible and positive demeanor, with good judgment and a focus on safety.
  • Punctuality and the capability to work independently.
  • The physical ability to lift heavy objects (50 lbs. or more).
  • A valid California driver's license and a clean driving record.
