About the Role

ManhattanLife is seeking a highly skilled Premium Tax Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our finance department, you will be responsible for preparing and filing state premium tax returns and related forms, as well as coordinating and preparing annual and quarterly premium tax returns.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare and file state premium tax returns and related forms (life, A&H, annuity premium tax returns)
  • Coordinate and prepare annual and quarterly premium tax returns
  • Assist with external and regulatory audit requests, premium tax return preparation, and other regulatory requirements
  • Maintain necessary documentation to support premium tax payments and allowable tax credits
  • Assist in requests from internal and external auditors in the completion of the annual financial audit
  • Maintain compliance with tax regulations
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance and/or previous experience in insurance with an accounting mindset
  • Insurance industry knowledge preferred
  • Familiarity with premiums, special project software, and ability to use both for tax reporting
  • Possess strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills
  • Ability to adapt and conform to unfamiliar tasks, procedures, software
  • Premium Tax experience is a plus
