Position Overview
The Heavy Vehicle Operator is responsible for driving trucks to transport materials to designated locations, executing various essential tasks as outlined below.
Key Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Receiving assignments and guidance from the Dispatcher or Supervisor.
- Interpreting instructions and planning work activities accordingly.
- Driving the truck to the specified destination.
- Preparing necessary paperwork for loads picked up.
- Collecting required documentation and signatures for delivered goods and associated charges.
- Maintaining a truck log in compliance with state and federal regulations.
- Keeping in contact with the supervisor or dispatcher for delivery instructions.
- Loading and unloading materials from the truck.
- Conducting inspections of truck equipment and supplies, including tires, lights, brakes, fuel, oil, and water.
- Performing emergency roadside repairs, such as changing tires and installing light bulbs.
- Securing cargo during transit using blocks and ropes.
- Operating company vehicles with a capacity of up to 105,500 pounds to transport materials and equipment.
- Adhering to all safety protocols and procedures, including the use of personal protective equipment.
- Demonstrating flexibility in work schedules, including long hours and on-call duties, while being prepared for varying weather conditions.
Supervisory Role
This position does not involve supervisory responsibilities.

Qualifications
To perform this role successfully, candidates must meet the following qualifications:
Education and Experience: High school diploma or GED; one to three months of related experience or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Language Proficiency: Ability to read and understand simple instructions and correspondence; capable of writing basic correspondence.
Mathematical Skills: Ability to perform basic arithmetic operations and understand measurements.
Reasoning Skills: Ability to apply common sense to follow detailed instructions and solve problems.
Computer Skills: Basic proficiency in using internal ERP systems.
Licenses and Certifications: Valid CDL License with a clean driving record, free from recent violations.
Physical Requirements: Regularly required to sit; occasionally required to use hands and arms; must be able to lift and move up to 60 pounds.
Work Environment: Regular exposure to outdoor weather conditions.
Compensation: Competitive hourly wage ranging from $25 to $30.
