Job Summary

The Greater Lowell Family YMCA seeks a dynamic and experienced Fitness Instructor to lead and coordinate our Zumba programs. As a key member of our fitness team, you will be responsible for designing and delivering engaging Zumba classes that cater to diverse age groups and fitness levels.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement comprehensive Zumba program plans, incorporating various styles and themes to ensure class variety and excitement.
  • Lead high-energy Zumba classes, demonstrating proper form, technique, and providing modifications to accommodate participants with different needs.
  • Assist in coordinating logistics, such as scheduling, room setup, and equipment maintenance to ensure seamless delivery of classes.
  • Collaborate with other fitness instructors to create cohesive programming and promote cross-promotion of classes.
  • Engage with participants, foster a sense of community, and encourage social interaction through post-class activities and events.
  • Stay updated on industry trends, best practices, and new Zumba choreography to continually improve teaching skills and offer fresh content.
  • Oversee the maintenance of equipment, supplies, and facilities to ensure a safe and inviting environment.
Requirements:
  • Active Zumba license and at least one year of teaching experience or active Zumba license plus NCCA-accredited Group Fitness Instructor/Group Exercise Instructor certification.
  • Current CPR/First Aid/AED certifications, completed upon arrival or within 90 days of hire.
  • Exceptional customer service, verbal communication, and motivational skills to connect with participants and provide a positive experience.
  • Understanding of Zumba instruction techniques, ability to design engaging classes, and attract a high volume of participants.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment, communicate clearly, and maintain a professional demeanor.
  • 1-3 years of Zumba instruction experience preferred.
Work Environment & Physical Demands:
  • Standing and walking are at minimum 90% of the shift.
  • Must be able to lift and/or move up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to recognize and react calmly and effectively in event of an emergency.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close and distance vision.
  • Daily activities include reaching, lifting, twisting, turning, kneeling, bending, squatting, and stooping.

The salary range for this position is $35,000 - $45,000 per year, depending on qualifications and experience.
