Job Title: Registered Nurse - IMCU

We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Registered Nurse to join our team in the Intermediate Care Unit (IMCU) at WellSpan Health. As a Registered Nurse in this role, you will provide high-quality patient care to patients with complex medical needs, working collaboratively with our interdisciplinary team to ensure the best possible outcomes.

Responsibilities:
  • Implement, direct, and coordinate patient care through the nursing process, including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation.
  • Recognize and treat physical and psychosocial changes unique to the age/population group served on the specific unit.
  • Provide basic dysrhythmia interpretation and treatment, as well as basic and advanced life support.
  • Administer medications, including vasoactive agents, platelet inhibitors, and ant arrhythmic agents, and monitor patients for medication effects.
  • Monitor patients using standardized procedures for preoperative, intraoperative, and postoperative procedures, including cardiac catheterization with percutaneous coronary intervention and chest tube insertion.
  • Care for patients with tracheotomies and hemodynamic monitoring, including equipment setup and troubleshooting, monitoring, and recognition of signs and symptoms of patient instability.
  • Initiate standardized interventions to stabilize patients awaiting transfer to critical care in the event of cardiopulmonary emergencies.
  • Interpret arterial blood gas analysis and communicate findings.
  • Recognize indications for and management of patients requiring noninvasive oxygen delivery systems, including oral airways, bi-level positive airway pressure, and continuous positive airway pressure.
  • Assess, monitor, and manage patients requiring renal therapeutic interventions, including hemodialysis, peritoneal dialysis, stents, continuous bladder irrigation, and urostomies.
  • Complete a 12-lead EKG and cardiac rehab exercises.
  • Draw blood from an arterial line and describe the role and responsibility in assessing and reporting physical, emotional, sexual abuse, and neglect.
  • Maintain general cleanliness of the department and demonstrate proper application of external pacemakers.
  • Recognize and evaluate the family's need for enhanced involvement in care to facilitate the transition from hospital to home.
Requirements:
  • Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing required; Bachelor of Science in Nursing is preferred.
  • Evidence of participation in educational programs to update and maintain current knowledge and clinical skills.
  • Experience applying customer service behaviors and communication skills required.
  • Previous nursing experience in specialty area preferred.
  • Eligible for or currently licensed as a Registered Professional Nurse in Pennsylvania.
  • Certification in specialty preferred.
  • CPR certification required.
  • ACLS required for Cardiovascular Services, CCU, Device Clinic, Emergency, IMCU, FBS, Tele Observation, PACU/SDS, or achieved within one year of start date.
