Agricultural Equipment Operator I

This role involves the management of manure, including the agitation, cleaning, transportation, and application of both solid and liquid manure from designated storage areas to various locations as instructed by farm management. The operator will utilize tractors and spreaders with horsepower up to 245.
Key Responsibilities
- Harvesting: Assist in the baling and unloading of crops such as hay, straw, and corn, including the chopping and transportation of these materials as directed by the farm manager.
- Field Preparation: Support field tillage operations by plowing, disking, stone picking, and soil finishing using tractors and tillage equipment up to 25 feet wide.
- Transportation: Responsible for hauling crops and equipment, which requires a Commercial Driver's License (CDL).
- Equipment Maintenance: Conduct routine servicing of tractors and agricultural equipment, including oil changes and preventive maintenance.
- Snow Removal: Participate in snow management activities on campus farms and associated facilities.
Qualifications
- Minimum of one year of experience operating agricultural or specialized equipment.
- Knowledge of routine maintenance and operation of agricultural machinery.
- Ability to lift over 75 pounds frequently.
- Possession of a valid Michigan vehicle operator's license is required.
- Must be able to work in varying weather conditions and participate in snow removal activities.
Desired Skills
- Experience in agricultural work is preferred.
- Possession of a commercial driver's license (CDL) with Class A endorsement is advantageous.
- Upon hiring, possession of a commercial pesticide applicator license with category 1A will be required.
