Job Summary

We are seeking a Graduate Nurse to join our team at Lakeland Hospital St Joseph. As a Graduate Nurse, you will play a key role in the delivery of caring, competent patient care in conjunction with a mentoring Registered Nurse.

Key Responsibilities

• Administer care to a designated group of patients under direction and supervision of a Registered Nurse.
• Give professional nursing care to all patients and their families, by using the delegated, interdependent and independent functions of nursing to maintain the standard of care.
• Utilize the nursing process as a means to assess for intervention in all levels of care, in analyzing and evaluating the clinical picture of the patient and as a means for using critical thinking skills in active problem solving.
• Implement delegated interdependent and independent direct care activities skillfully based on skills learning and clinical training, assessment findings and evaluation of any previous interventions.
• Identify patient learning needs through the assessment process and mutually establish education goals with the patient/family, looking for the teachable moment, and implementing measures to meet these goals.
• Establish priorities in patient care assignments, based on essential patient care needs and availability of unit resources in terms of time, personnel, equipment, and supplies.
• Use the Plan of Care (Standard of Care) to guide the documentation of the care delivered, demonstrating any necessary revisions for the individual patient.
• Perform efficiently in patient and family emergency situations, following established policies, procedures and protocols.

Qualifications

• Associates in Nursing Required.
• Bachelors in Nursing Required within 5 years.
• MI Registered Nurse (RN) Required within 60 days.
• AHA or ARC Basic Life Support (BLS) Required within 90 days.
