Job Summary

Key Responsibilities
  • Product Cost Estimating and Application Assistance:
    • Develop cost estimates using internal quotation programs and from-scratch estimates.
    • Communicate engineering and technical requirements to internal and external customers.
    • Follow corporate design manuals to specify chains, sprockets, and conveyor chain accessories.
    • Apply engineering principles to coordinate with or in the absence of established standards.
    • Provide technical support and advice to internal and external sales representatives, product management, quality, and manufacturing.
    • Cross-check estimates and proposals with other engineers.
  • Product Analysis:
    • Complete Returned Goods Analyses (RGAs) and Corrective Actions in a timely manner.
    • Analyze worn and broken chains to determine modes and methods of failure and suggest improvements.
    • Prepare and review customer and internally focused reports on RGA findings and suggestions.
    • Investigate alternate designs and processes for continuous improvement, resulting in added value, quality improvements, and cost reductions.
    • Analyze and evaluate new technologies to design new products or improve existing designs.
    • Conduct product testing for competitive analysis.
    • Establish design specifications for specific customer requirements.
    • Travel to customer locations to troubleshoot systems and conveyor chain issues.
  • Requirements:
    • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering (or Technology) with 2 years of related experience or Associate's Degree with 6-10 years of related experience.
    • Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving mindset.
    • Ability to apply principles of logic, engineering, and/or scientific thinking to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems.
    • Excellent mathematical and reasoning skills with ability to apply advanced mathematical concepts.
    • Strong ability to perform cost analysis, mechanical system analysis, variance reports, test sampling, correlations, etc.
    • Accurate measurement skills.
    • Ability to read and understand technical drawings.
    • Proficiency in computer software such as Word, Excel, Power Point, QAD, and file management.
    • Minimal travel required.
