Job Title: Fire Plans Reviewer

Join the City of Augusta GA team as a Fire Plans Reviewer and play a critical role in ensuring public safety through the review and coordination of construction documents.

Job Summary:

The Fire Plans Reviewer will be responsible for reviewing and interpreting building and structural construction documents to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal codes, policies, and regulations. This includes reviewing plans for new construction, additions, and alterations of commercial and residential projects, as well as conducting site visits to ensure compliance with fire safety codes.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Review and interpret building and structural construction documents to ensure compliance with codes and regulations.
  • Conduct site visits to ensure compliance with fire safety codes.
  • Work with builders, owners, architects, engineers, and other stakeholders to resolve code compliance issues.
  • Develop and maintain knowledge of local, state, and federal codes and regulations.
  • Provide technical assistance and guidance to stakeholders on code compliance and fire safety.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Structural Engineering, Fire Science/Technology, or a related field.
  • Five years of experience in building design, construction document preparation, plan review, code analysis, building inspections, construction, systems review, or a related field.
  • Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
  • Ability to obtain ICC Building Plans Examiner, ICC Fire Plans Examiner, NFPA Certified Plan Examiner, or ICC Accessibility Inspector/Plans Examiner Certification within one year of employment.
